For thousands of years we humans have evolved to learn through stories: we passed down knowledge, we made sense of the world and interpreted strange and unexplicable events through stories. Our brains are wired to learn through stories, and teachings passed down through stories are way more powerful than any warning we might receive - let’s just think of Little Red Riding Hood: it teaches children the importance of listening to their mums way more than any “you mustn’t…”.
Folktales from around the world are funny, witty, deep… and they can always teach us something: we can learn about other cultures, broaden our horizons, or they can make us reflect on important themes. But not only! Stories are a wonderful way to learn a language in a playful, natural and engaging way!
